Warning read before you update to software 3.0 !

Warning read before you update to software 3.0 !

The bad news:

If you upgrade your old iPhone 2G to the new 3.0 software, then jailbreak it, be warned of the following:
  • Phone heats up abnormally
  • Battery drains really fast
  • Loss of signal and dropped calls
Push notification seems to be the culprit behind these symptoms. The phone constantly is trying to connect to Apple servers (needed for the new push notification services).
What’s going on is that the hacktivated iPhone is continuously attempting to register itself on
the Apple servers, but can’t because it is not activated via valid AT&T sim!!

The good news:

These symptoms can be remedied by simply turning off push:
  1. settings>location services>Off
  2. settings>mail>fetch new data>Off

Till now there is no way to turn on push notification on a hacktivated iPhone2G running 3.0 software update.
